In this class, we will learn all about value - the subtle shifts between light and shadow that give objects form, depth and structure. Instead of relying on color, we will discover how a full range of darks, lights and midtones can completely transform a flat page.

Through guided exercises and demonstrations, you’ll practice shading techniques, blending, and mark-making while building confidence working with charcoal.

No prior experience is needed — just a willingness to slow down, experiment, and get a little messy.

We will continue learning how to slow down and draw from careful observation. In doing so, we will gain a deeper appreciation of God’s presence in the ordinary. Participants will be provided demonstrations and techniques on how to put this into practice when drawing still life objects. We encourage you to bring a small meaningful object from home if you feel so led.

Join us for an Art Chapel Christmas Party!! There will be a class at 10AM and a different class at 1PM with a bunch of Christmas crafts in between!

Seats are LIMITED for the classes, but anyone is welcome to drop by between 10-4PM to participate in the smaller crafts!

10AM: Paint a Nativity Door Hanger

1PM: Build/Decorate a 3ft Wooden Christmas Tree (please bring a power screwdriver / screwdriver if you can!)

Other Christmas crafts include cutting snowflakes, decorating cardboard gingerbread houses, and decorating ornaments!

We will also have Art Chapel Tee Shirts and Beanies for sale to help support our programming!
